Building your character

You create your own character and play it every night. A great costume earns a higher nightly rate.

• Dress for outdoor conditions in layers. Late October nights are cold.
• Wear shoes you can stand and move in for five hours.
• Some costumes and masks are available if you need one — ask your area lead.
• Bring your own makeup if you can. Liquid latex, setting spray and a dark base go a long way.
• Never wear anything that blocks your vision in a way that isn't safe on dark, uneven ground.
